Merve İşeri

Sorry to wake you, I forgot to tell you something

Merve is a London-based artist whose primary medium is painting. Her visual compositions are inspired by the rapture and rupture catalysed by the realm of communication. Inner landscapes composed of references to nature, humanity and culture mingle with a plethora of personal and archetypal allegories. Merve’s exercise might be one of translation and spatialisation of the linguistic threads that connect tangible and intangible lifeforms, encompassing the synchronicities and voids of meanings that characterise and animate our world. There is specific intent to each mark, symbol, and pattern on the canvas, yet together in concert, they seem to dance and talk their own language.

PS could stand for ‘party synthetic’, ‘personal statement’, ‘please silence’, ‘psss’, ‘post scriptum’ or whatever just came to your mind. We choose post scriptum out of infinite descriptive possibilities as it possibly embodies them all. P.s: an interview or a rebus? a composition of portraits and wiretaps? a map of hints suggesting a wide web of interpretations.
